HOW IT WORKS
This is how digestion works: The process of digestion starts the moment food enters your mouth, and the first process happening within digestion, chewing, is undergone. With the help of saliva, it then travels to the esophagus, also known as the gullet, where the second process known as swallowing happens. Afterwards, the swallowed food enters the stomach, in which the food gets mixed with digestive juices the stomach itself produces. Moving on, the mixture gets emptied out from the stomach to the small intestines, where more fluids from other parts of the body, namely the pancreas, liver and the intestines, come in. They mix in with the mixture, helping digest it. Once the food is just digested, the walls of the small intestine absorbs the nutrients into the bloodstream. On the other hand, the still undigested parts of food as well as the unwanted substances, also known as the waste, continues down to the large intestine. This organ then goes on to absorbs water and every other nutrients,, while simultaneously converting the waste from liquid, into something known as stool. DISEASES RELATED TO THIS SYTEM
